Latest Events. First and second games scheduled October 8th and 9th vs. ASU Oceanside
The NAU Ice Jacks Division II team finished their season at the Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ. NAU split with #8 ranked UNLV winning 4-3 in regulation and dropping the last game of the season 4-3 in overtime. The Ice Jacks were forced to practice and play on the road for the last three weeks of the season due to the collapse of the roof of the Jay Lively Ice Arena in Flagstaff, AZ. In their first season at ACHA Division II NAU finished 19-8-0-1. After finishing 8th, 6th and 6th in the nation the past three seasons, this marks the first time in four seasons that the Ice Jacks do not qualify for the regional and national tournaments.
The NAU DIII team traveled to Colorado Springs, CO to play Colorado College losing the first game 9-5 and winning the last game of the season 8-7 in overtime.
The Ice Jacks team and coaching staff have continued to work hard in the off season. The NAU DII team will join the newly formed West Coast Hockey League with Arizona State, Long Beach State, San Diego State and Loyola Mary Mount College.
The Ice Jacks have received interest from some top players around the country. Several players from Alaska and Arizona have expressed interest in trying out of the team next season. Several players from other Western States and a few from Midwest will come in this spring to visit our Flagstaff campus as well. Next season promises to be one of the best in NAU Hockey history.
The NAU DIII team will join the Pacific Coast Hockey Association in the 2010-2011 season joining Cal State Northridge, Fresno State, Santa Clara, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Davis and Sacramento State. Cal State Santa Barbara will also apply for inclusion into the conference.
The NAU Ice Jacks officers are continuing to work very hard on the roof replacement at Jay Lively Ice Arena and some wonderful improvements to the rink. More information regarding the rink repair will be known soon.
The Ice Jacks will continue to skate through March at the Prescott Valley rink. NAU will also host a two day skate for existing players and potential recruits at the Oceanside Ice Arena on Friday evening April 9th at 9:40 PM and Saturday afternoon April 10th at 12:35 in the afternoon. Recruits and potential players are asked to submit a player profile through the web site. We are looking forward to seeing you in April. .
Congratulations to all of our players and coaching staff who led NAU to a great 2009-2010 season. Next season will be even better. . .
